About the Hub

The Delta Coral Large-area Imaging Hub is located at National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (Department of Marine Biotechnology and Resources Building, Room MB3003). The purpose of the Hub is to provide a comfortable space where individuals and teams interested in understanding reef ecosystems can develop large-area imaging skills. Specifically, we provide access to computers, software, and training on how to convert images of the reef to data that can be used to drive research, innovation, management, and education.

Accessible Tools and Training for Understanding Taiwan's Coral Reef Ecosystems

What does the Hub provide?

At the Delta Coral Large-area Imaging Hub, we provide access to high-quality computers capable of efficiently running LAI software. Specifically, we offer access to Agisoft Metashape and can guide Hub users on how to build 3D models from their reef images. These models can serve as digital twins of the reef, providing both current and archival data. For data extraction, we provide training on how to use Viscore, an open-source software platform designed specifically for LAI workflows.

Who can use the Hub?

The only qualification needed to use the Hub is a passion for coral reef ecosystems! The Hub is available for use and training by academics, researchers, government agencies, NGOs, and local community groups alike. We can cater to a wide range of experience levels—from complete beginners to individuals seeking to hone their already well-developed skills. Our goal is to create an inclusive and collaborative environment where participants can build confidence and develop practical skills.
